Be sure to get version 1.0.0.5c right now, the c is important. It's a patch from the forums until 1.0.0.6 comes around. The thing I love most is it is only the second regional liner that's worth mentioning (next to the classes better dash from majestics).
The systems are fully simulated for a normal workday as was already mentioned, so you can do a complete cold&dark procedure and everything is there for a routine flight. The FMS also looks complete for the usual stuff and something more, and it actually looks like it could come from the real plane, and not that joke that JRollon tries to pass with their CRJ. Optically there is nothing to complain, it is beautiful. In the cockpit and the outside. The flightmodel is superb I think.
The thing is a piece of work, especially the 900 on descent. A bit too much thrust and you bust your approach, a bit too little power and you'll land in the suburbs. But actually nice when you got used to it.
One thing to mention is the not so automated flying. You can't descend with VNAV, there is only an advisory mode, giving you tips on how to fly, but it doesn't follow them itself. Kinda the same way the vnav in the dash8 works. They are actually very similar. Both bombardier.
It also doesn't have any kind of autothrust. You manage speed, all the time. So even cruise is not relaxing gliding away, you constantly have to set thrust to reach your desired speeds.
It is more hands on flying, but also a bigger workload, so if that's your thing, the CRJ is right for you. I don't regret having bought it. Can't say much about the 787. It's time for a nice 787, but why don't go with the 777 while QW finishes theirs?
